Belated Birthday Celebrations

“It’s my birthday, it’s my birthday, I’m gonna party like it’s my birthday…”

Birthday treats

Well, only like it’s my birthday, because it’s not actually.  I missed the blog-anniversary here last month, so I figured I’d wait a bit and do it properly…  So a year and a month since my very first post, today is such a great day!  The sun is shining here in soggy England, the Olympics kick off tonight, and I am hosting my first ever giveaway!!!!!!!!!  😀

It’s been a fabulous year, and is only just over halfway through!  We’ve had the 60th Jubilee, the wettest summer, now the best week of sun, and of course, the Olympics.  I’m looking forward to seeing some great sport and thoroughly committed athletes show us their stuff!  What about you?  Are you going to be hiding from the TV for the next 16 days, or will you be watching your favourite sport?

Back to the giveaway, birthdays mean presents!!  😀    I have a copy of Winnifred Aldrich’s Metric Pattern Cutting; two un-used Burdastyle magazines, March and July 2011; and a little surprise bundle.  All you need to do to enter is leave a comment below stating which birthday present you’d like, and which if any, event you’ll be looking out for over the next couple of weeks.  All comments to be received by Midnight GMT on Monday 30 July.

March and July 2011 Burdastyle magazines and Metric Pattern Cutting. I’m not showing the suprise bundle, ’cause then it’s not a suprise!

I’m going to be on the lookout for a team of skippers (jump ropers??) called Get Tricky who will be part of the Sports Presentation at the basketball events.   They consist of members of 4 Jump Rope teams from the UK, Belgium and the USA.  See if you can spot them on the TV coverage!

I’ve had a great first year, met loads of other bloggers doing loads of different things, and I’ve learnt a few computer tricks too!  Still have far to go, but I’m loving it!  Here’s to the next year!  Ching ching!  😀

  1. Happy Birthday! I really enjoy your blog. Keep up the good work. I would love to receive the Burdastyle magazines : ) As for the summer Olympics, I look forward to all of the events.

  2. I wish wordpress notified us of such blessed events- I thin kI missed too- well, happy, happy to you. This evening the husband is making Wellington for the opening ceremonies!

    1. We could do with something like the goodie they send at the end of the year, and a notification that another anniversary has come up, couldn’t we! So what did you think of the opening ceremony?

  3. Well done! I missed my blogiversary, so will have to do something extra spectacular for my second early next year…
I’m looking forward to the Olympics, even though we’ll be away for the first week – but we are going to Weymouth to watch some Olympic sailing (tickets an’ everything!). I like the swimming, diving, gymnastics and synchronised swimming as well as the sailing of course!
I’m recording the opening ceremony – can’t wait to watch it with Boy when we get back…
I’d be overjoyed to receive any of the birthday presses, but the surprise bundle does intrigue me the most!

  4. Happy Blogiversary! Many congratulations on your first year. I’m looking forward to the opening ceremony tonight and the equestrian events (although it’s been a long time since I last rode a horse). Gymnastics and swimming for the kids. Athletics for the husband (thankfully not beach volleyball! ;-). I have a copy of WA, but not those Burdas…and the surprise bundle sounds…surprising?!

    1. Aah, that’s the plan, gotta keep some people guessing! No point in knowing all the presents in advance now is there?? ;p I love the gymnastics and swimming too.

  5. Congrats on your 1+1 mo anniversary! I didn’t even know we got to celebrate those. My my, now I have to think about that… sewingforme.wordpress.com

  6. Happy Blogoversary! How exciting! And how very hard to choose! I’d love either one, really, but will choose the book.

Over the next couple of weeks I’m looking forward to Shakespeare in the Park (Clark Park here in Philadelphia, PA), the Olympics, and going to a Red Sox baseball game at Fenway Park in Boston, MA (the Sox are celebrating 100 years at Fenway this year–too bad they’re kinda suckin’ it up!).

    1. Ooo, Shakespeare in the Park – sounds good, which plays are they putting on? I live in Shakespeare-land, so we have it all year round! I hope the Sox pull them up and do well a their game, it’s no fun to support a team that’s drooping.. ;p

  7. Happy Everything!!! Much congratulations and keep up the great blogging. Here’s to making lots of pretty things for many years to come. Regarding the Olympics, I was planning on cheering on Paula Radcliffe during the marathon, but we’ll see if she’s even going to be able to compete. Fingers crossed for her. As for the giveaway, the surprise bundle sounds cool. Cheers!!

    1. Thank you very much! It’s always a great suprise to see who is hanging around reading my blurb! I hope Paula is competing, she deserves Olympic recognition!

  8. Happy Blogiversary! The book would be a lovely treat, I’ve got it on my book depository wish list but not yet bought it, who am I kidding, the surprise bundle and magazines would be super too. I love watching the diving and gymnastics in the Olympics.

    1. Ok, sounds like it’s pot luck for you then, I’ll have to have an extra hat for people who want all the pressies! ;p If you are ready to start making your own patterns, Winnie is the one to begin with.

  9. Happy birthday Anne, you have a great blog!! and I’d love the book if I’m chosen – there’s no pattern drafting courses around where I live – at least none that I’ve found! I’m looking forward to the men’s 200m and 400m with Christophe LEMAITRE as well as the swimming competition but I’ll be watching whenever I can.

  10. Oh happy belated blogversary. Lovely generous giveaway too but please don’t put me in for it as I already have the fab book and mags. The cupcakes though …… :O)

Enjoy the madness of the Olympics and the wonders of the weather …

  11. Haha, I don’t think the cupcakes will survive the journey south… You might like the suprise bundle though.. And I’m loving the Olympics, although we’ve already had our first disappointment in the men’s road race this afternoon.. 😦 Got to hand it to the bloke from Kazakhstan who won though, he was in the right place at the right time!

  12. I’d like the book, but the mags and mystery bundle sound good too. I’ll keep eye out for when Tom Daley is diving, watched a really moving documentary about him and his dad earlier this week. We’re also really looking forward to the Paralympics, going to 3 events inc. wheelchair rugby 🙂

    1. Oh the diving is going to be great! Paralympic rugby sounds like it could be intense! I’m going to make more effort to watch the Paralympics this year.
