Giveaway Winners

I’ve made a decision, and I’m typing it up now so I cannot have another change of heart.

winners

The winner of the Elisalex Dress is Jana  I’ve never seen a comment that long, and boy do I want to see this dress made in silver jacquard!  I was tempted to say that if you had too much I could relieve you of a metre or two!  🙂

The Anna Dress pattern goes to Laurie from Threadbare Stitches.  I hope you will have enough versions of the Anna for your next holiday!

Thank you all so much for your comments & reasons for needing the patterns, they were all so good, I hope you manage to get your hands on the patterns you wanted soon.  I’ve found some new blogs to follow from this so I guess I’ll be seeing you in Blogland!

For the winners, drop me an email:  handmade-1 at live dot co dot uk with your postal address & I’ll get your prize in the post asap so you can get sewing!

Blog Awards – Thanks and Apologies!

I have been bad.  In the summer I recieved 2 blog awards and fully intended to acknowledge them properly etc, but somehow just didn’t get round to it.  I have been shamed by my nomination by Ooobop of yet another 2 awards!  So I’m going to combine all the thanks and gratitude in one post here.  Thank you to Debbierea who delivered her award in August…  Ten days later I recieved another award, but sadly the Hugs & Kisses Clothing blog no longer exists on WordPress.  I’m sorry!!!  And thank you Janene, I love your posts, especially the Burda reviews.

So here are the rules of the game:

1. Thank the person who nominated you
2. Add The One Lovely Blog Award The Very Inspiring Blogger Award to your post.
3. Share 7 things about yourself.
4. Pass the award on to 10 nominees.
5. Include this set of rules.
6. Inform your nominees by posting a comment on their blogs.

Seven Things about Me

  1.  I sew every day – and night if I get the chance!
  2.  I am a selfish seamstress.  I don’t like making for other people, unless it was my idea in the first place.
  3. My fabric stash has exploded from the cupboard and now has an overflow box under the computer desk.  This is not helping to hide the problem from the husband.
  4. I run a small sewing class one Sunday a month, we have a great time and there is much chatter and laughter.
  5. I am still getting used to having only one child at home, Daughter No1 is away at University and things are much quieter (and neater) without her.
  6. I am making as many Chirstmas gifts this year as I can, which means the poor old Bernina has been slogging its little heart out over the last few weeks.
  7. I’m going to run out of time!  😀

And now for the nominations of 10 deserving blogs..  I follow so many, it’s going to be hard to choose just 10.

In no particular order, here’s a pick:

Yes, I can count, and I know that’s 11, not 10, but how to choose???  That’s me for now then, I need to get back to my jacket, which isn’t going to finish itself by tonight if I stay sitting in front of the computer all morning.

Thank you to all the lovely ladies who helped me out getting the pictures of the awards onto the post, and the sidebar!  I have written down the instructions for further use.. ;p

Birthday presents!

Thanks for all your well wishes, and comments.  Who’s been watching the great Games??  I have been blown away by the crowds, they’ve been so loud!  Especially when Team GB are participating!  😀  I have my giveaway winners…..  Daughter No2 picked numbers out of her favourite summer hat this morning, and this is what we have:

The Winnifred Aldrich book goes to……..  Prttynpnk

The Burdastyle magazines go to……. Pendle Stitches

and the suprise bundle goes to…………..  Vicki Kate!!!!

All wrapped up and ready for their new homes!

Congratulations guys, I hope you have hours of fun with your stuff!  😀  Now all you need to do is email me with your postal addresses, and these will be winging their way to you.  Email me on handmade-1 at live dot co dot uk.

Now for more sewing while I try to watch the Olympics at the same time….  At least my fix-it-and-finish-it pile has shrunk a bit!

Belated Birthday Celebrations

“It’s my birthday, it’s my birthday, I’m gonna party like it’s my birthday…”

Birthday treats

Well, only like it’s my birthday, because it’s not actually.  I missed the blog-anniversary here last month, so I figured I’d wait a bit and do it properly…  So a year and a month since my very first post, today is such a great day!  The sun is shining here in soggy England, the Olympics kick off tonight, and I am hosting my first ever giveaway!!!!!!!!!  😀

It’s been a fabulous year, and is only just over halfway through!  We’ve had the 60th Jubilee, the wettest summer, now the best week of sun, and of course, the Olympics.  I’m looking forward to seeing some great sport and thoroughly committed athletes show us their stuff!  What about you?  Are you going to be hiding from the TV for the next 16 days, or will you be watching your favourite sport?

Back to the giveaway, birthdays mean presents!!  😀    I have a copy of Winnifred Aldrich’s Metric Pattern Cutting; two un-used Burdastyle magazines, March and July 2011; and a little surprise bundle.  All you need to do to enter is leave a comment below stating which birthday present you’d like, and which if any, event you’ll be looking out for over the next couple of weeks.  All comments to be received by Midnight GMT on Monday 30 July.

March and July 2011 Burdastyle magazines and Metric Pattern Cutting. I’m not showing the suprise bundle, ’cause then it’s not a suprise!

I’m going to be on the lookout for a team of skippers (jump ropers??) called Get Tricky who will be part of the Sports Presentation at the basketball events.   They consist of members of 4 Jump Rope teams from the UK, Belgium and the USA.  See if you can spot them on the TV coverage!

I’ve had a great first year, met loads of other bloggers doing loads of different things, and I’ve learnt a few computer tricks too!  Still have far to go, but I’m loving it!  Here’s to the next year!  Ching ching!  😀

One Cool Thing, One Strange Thing Swap

You know when you have a clearout, or a chance to re-organise your little stash of fabrics, there is aways something lurking that you just haven’t got round to using yet.  And propably won’t.  It’s not the colour you like anymore, not the right pattern, or often, not enough to really do something with.  The Perfect Nose has the answer, a swap.

But this is not just any swap.  The idea is to swap one cool thing from your stash, with a wierd thing.  I have found a couple of items I just know I am not going to use anymore.  I haven’t the occasion, or time for them anymore, so I have made a little pile.

These are the rules for the swap from the Perfect Nose:

  • Crappy things not allowed.
  • Entries will be accepted until March 31st, 2012 and a list of interested swap contributors drawn up.
  • Each swap contributor will send one cool thing and one strange thing to their nominated swap partner within a month.
  • I will send an extra cool/strange thing combo to three extra people (randomly drawn) from the list (pretty much immediately).
  • If you have more than one cool/strange thing you’d like to send let me know and I’ll see what I can do about pairing you with others interested in doing the same.
  • You’re free to add other (nice) things to your contribution if you like.

If you are interested, I suggest you get on over to her site pretty sharp, as the closing date is tomorrow!!  If you are in Oz, get cracking!!  US readers have a little breathing space…

So I have put together a little inspiration board, so as to make sure I get swapped the right sort of stuff.

One Cool thing, One Strange thing Swap inspiration board

I used Gimmebar to put this together.  If you have used Pinterest in the past, this is similar, but there is the option to have private boards – which is not currently in the pipeline for Pinterest.  Also, instead of pinning just images, you can “grab” whole pages, so this includes text.  Quite good for bookmarking pages on the internet, and of course, there is always a link to the original source.  Check it out.

So I hope the person who gets my contribution makes something really cool, and I hope I get something fab in return!

Have a great sewing weekend, I am not going to get any sewing done.  I have an 18th birthday for Daughter no 1 and a Sewing Sunday class.  But I have been stashbusting – if I am allowed to call it that if the fabric I’ve been using is what I bought last week at the NEC…
