It’s been a while….. There are times when I wish there were two of me, and I think I can safely say I’m not the only one who wishes they could clone themselves, just to get more done. So what’s been happening?? We’ve had some changes here.
Daughter No1 has started University and has moved into accomodation in Birmingham. It’s not far, but far enough for her to start an independent life. Of course, when she comes down with “Fresher’s Flu” it’s also close enough to hop on a train and come home! It’s different here at home without her, Daughter No2 really misses her company.
I haven’t done much pattern cutting, and that’s why I haven’t been posting. I am hoping that with the arrival now of Autumn and routines back in place that I can get going again. Here is a little peek at what I have been doing instead…
Back in June I started this project, following Blair Stocker’s crochet-along on her blog, Wisecraft. I though it would be a nice gift for Daughter No1 to take to Uni, and at the same time I could use up my scraps of various Rowan cotton yarns. Little did I realise what a monster project it was going to become! (And that it was going to require much, much more than the left-overs I had.) I finally finished this blanket after doubling the amount of squares originally made so I could get the size I wanted. There are many photos of other afgans on the Flickr group.
Not content with doing all that, I spotted some brilliant, coloured twine in a local garden centre, made in Scotland! So here is what I thought I’d do with that…
Not finished yet, in fact, barely started, but I hope to make some baskets. You know the type, little baskets for junk to accumulate in, and for your car keys to mysteriously disappear into the bottom of. Or to pop a plant pot into…
So – sewing. I cut out the most beautiful silk satin devore fabric waaaay back in May to make another version of my Silver Lining blouse. I have to hang my head and admit right now that that was as far as I got, as other projects stampeded ahead of it. So as part of my “Autumn cleaning” I have determined to make it up. It is going to be fabulous!! Here’s a glimpse at the sleeve so far. I hope to finish it by the weekend, and if the weather’s good there will be some lovely photos.
So that’s it for now. I’m off to make 1/4 scale patterns for the Pattern Magic weekend! What fun.. 😉 Happy Autumn everyone!

Your blanket beats the massive fleece blanket I sent my daughter away to Uni with (even if it was covered in little aliens). Love in every stitch! I hope she escapes freshers flu and enjoys her studies.
Fleece is good – at least you can bung it in the washing machine… Fresher’s flu has attacked twice now, here’s hoping she doesn’t get every bug around until Xmas.
